October 7th will be Last Wednesday Night Sail of the Season!

(c) Martin Sundberg
Celebrate the last Wednesday Night Sail with a Bang! Book a 4 hour charter for the price of 2 hours and enjoy a great OCSC BBQ!
Normally, the Wednesday Night Sails only run through September due to the amount of sunlight we have to play with. We’ve had so much fun with all of you during the Wednesday Night Sails (WNS) this season that we wanted to extend the WNS’s. We thought we might be able to run them throughout October, but after looking at the sunlight situation again, we decided that extending the season 1 extra week would be the best decision.
So now we’re having a end-of-the-WNS-season Party and BBQ following the Last WNS on October 7th!
*Important Note* All boats must be back by 7:30pm to avoid low tide. However, that night charterers may book a 4-hour half day charter for the regular WNS rate! This means you can sail from 3:30pm-7:30pm for the price of a WNS!
Feel free to call us with any questions or to reserve your spot for some end-of-the-season FUN!

Get Well Chet! From the “Lunch Bunch”

A sailing get well message from the group for Chet Ward, a “Lunch Bunch” regular. The “Lunch Bunch” group sails almost every Thursday , weather permitting.
The biggest decision we make is where we are going to stop on the Bay for lunch. For lack of a better term, we call ourselves the “Lunch Bunch”.-Regina Groman

Anthony Sandberg on VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network
When: Thursday September 24, at 12 Noon Pacific Time. You can still download the episode if you miss it live.
Where: http://www.modavox.com/voiceamerica/vepisode.aspx?aid=41287
This week on Awakening Value meet Anthony Sandberg, president and founder of OCSC, a remarkable sailing school located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Much of Anthony’s expertise lies in corporate team building and leadership training. His unique approach involves taking leaders directly into the conversation between fluidity [wind and water] and structure [the sailboat]. This is a classic example of shamanic technologies in action where implicit learning – the skill of your relational awareness – comes to the fore and does its proper job – informing linear awareness of the best course of action moment to moment, actions literally spoken at the interface between variables in continual motion. As Anthony says, ‘Sailing is an excellent metaphor for business.’ Tune in and learn to apply these principles in your own business and arenas of expertise!

Fleet Week is almost here!

The Blue Angels are sure to bring the excitement!
Fleetweek is just around the corner on October 8-13th. The Blue Angels will be flying overhead, the Navy Ships will be out in full force, not to mention the countless other beautiful boats. With all the excitement, Fleetweek is always a great time to get out on the water. You can get the full schedule of activities here. If you’re thinking of chartering a boat that weekend, we still have a few boats left on Friday the 9th.
There is still space available on the Fleetweek Seaward Sail. The Seaward Sail is a great way to enjoy the activities without the constant attentiveness required of skippering your own vessel. The Seaward Sail will be on Saturday, Oct. 10th from 11am-5pm.

Where: OCSC SAILING, Berkeley Marina
When: October 10th, 11am-5pm
Cost: $145 for Non-Members $108.75 for Members!

Stories and Pictures from the British Columbia Flotilla!

The BC Flotilla Crew!
I’m back from OCSC’s first British Columbia Flotilla, refreshed and inspired. It is such beautiful and spectacular country, from the fiords to the glaciers to the waterfalls. AND we had great weather, with only one half day of light rain. We sailed from Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, across Georgia Straits to the mainland. There were a few days good for sailing, with winds from 5-15 knots and one day that one of our boats enjoyed with 15-20 knots and four-five foot seas. That said, we did do our British Columbia share of motoring and motor-sailing.
